At SOL Hardwood Floor Refinishing, we use the most powerful and adaptable sanding machine in the flooring industry. This cutting-edge three-disc sanding machine is designed to tackle a wide variety of tasks, from perfecting prefinished wood floors to fine, intermediate, and heavy sanding. It’s ideal for subfloor treatment during hardwood floor installations and delivers exceptional results in floor finishing and polishing. Whether renovating solid wood, engineered, cork, or stained floors, this machine ensures flawless results. It is also highly effective for dry treatment of screed and sub-floors, delivering even, smooth finishes every time.
Post-Sanding Floor Care Guide
Follow these essential protocols to ensure your newly finished surfaces achieve maximum durability and aesthetic brilliance.
Curing and Airflow Requirements
The final stage of any hardwood floor refinishing project is the atmospheric maturation of the protective seal. For a duration of 14 days, the surface requires an uninterrupted exchange of air to facilitate proper chemical bonding. Obstructing the hardwood flooring with mats or rugs during this window can lead to ghosting or cloudy patches as trapped gases cannot permeate through the material.
Protecting the New Surface
Reintroducing traffic too early can compromise the structural integrity of the finish. While you can walk in clean hosiery after 24 hours of the floor refinishing, we advise a seven day restriction for shoes and pets. During this critical interval, the wood floor refinishing has not yet reached its peak PSI resistance: making it susceptible to micro-abrasions from pet claws or tracked grit.
Water and Moisture Safety
Professional flooring contractors emphasize that moisture is a primary enemy during the first 10 days of curing. Introducing water or steam cleaners can prematurely soften the resin and lead to a loss of sheen or adhesion. To maintain hygiene, flooring installers suggest using only dry electrostatic tools that lift debris without scratching the sensitive, unhardened surface.
Environmental Stability
Wood is a dynamic material that maintains a constant exchange with the room environment. To prevent seasonal gapping or board movement, your property interior should stay between 35% and 55% relative humidity. Once the floor installation has reached full stability, ensure that high density felt dampeners are applied to all contact points to protect the finish from concentrated pressure.
